What is the ICPM Qualification?
The ICPM is the first qualification in the APM's programme of qualifications. It is an essential starting point for inexperienced project members wishing to pursue a career in project management. The subjects covered provide a sound basis for moving to the APM qualification.
What will I gain from the ICPM?
Successful candidates will understand the language of project management and the structure of a successful project. They will be able to communicate more effectively, participate in project team activities and make a positive contribution to the project. It also provides an entry route into APM membership (free registration if within six weeks of exam), and access to the latest project management best practices and new developments.

What qualifications and experience do I need to take the ICPM exam?
There are no re-requisites for the ICPM qualification. The exam is normally taken after a two day training course.
What is the exam format and pass mark?
The exam is based on sixty multiple choice questions answered within one hour. The pass mark is 60%.
When can I take the exam?
The normal time is at 1600 hr on the second day of the training course.
What do I need to do to prepare for the exam?
Obviously, the amount of preparation will depend on the experience and knowledge of each individual. For most people we recommend completing some advance work before the course since the course though not difficult is relatively intense compared to typical training courses, and although some revision time is included, the exam is taken at the end of the course.

How does the training course prepare me for the exam?
The training course includes interactive presentations, exercises and practice exam questions. Exam practice questions are taken subject by subject after training sessions followed by short tutorials. This helps reinforce learning and preparation for the exam. An APM ICPM sample paper is used for additional practice towards the end of the training course.
